Take care of PDFs easily
Sejda PDF Desktop is a free PDF editor software that enables you to perform various different tasks on PDF files. With its intuitive interface, this productivity program is easy for any type of user and offers a ton of features for PDF document management. This is the installable desktop version of the original online and browser-based Sejda service—however, this free-to-use version has daily limited capabilities compared to the premium one.
What is Sejda PDF Desktop?
Sejda PDF Desktop is basically a PC application that you can use to edit your PDFs. Instead of using the online version and having to depend on the website’s servers, you can simply process your files right on your desktop. This can be a quick process and has little chances of failing. Compared to other similar editors like Adobe Acrobat, Sejda is lighter on your computer resources and its free version can be used for as long as possible, with only daily file limits impeding you.
Opening the program will display the homepage, with the “Choose PDF File” button already available for use so you can go ahead and start editing. There’s also a quick disclaimer beneath the button—reminding you that while the files are processed locally, the free version can only process documents of up to 200 pages or 50MB a day and you can only do 3 free tasks every day. On top of the screen are your tools, with the main menu found in a drop-down menu on the far left.
How do I edit a PDF in Sejda?
There are typically 8 tools available in Sejda, and their names and categories vary a bit depending on the “All Tools” menu. Edit & Sign contains the usual formatting options, allowing you to edit the PDFs’ contents directly—whether you want to change the images or add links. Its other tool is Fill & Sign, which lets you add signatures and fill out PDF forms. The rest of the tools are for the whole document’s appearance and properties. You can merge different PDF files and even organize their pages.
You can also split up a single document’s pages—either by pages, bookmarks, size, and text. If the PDF’s size is too huge, you can use the Compress tool. You can even convert your files, whether to PDF or to other formats like images, Excel, and Word. Another major feature is the ability to toggle security settings on your files—either by setting and removing passwords or adding watermarks. Other tools include editing headers, footers, and page numbers, converting PDF scans for OCR, and repairing corrupted files.
However, these can’t be used anytime you like. As mentioned, the free version has daily limits: only 3 tasks can be done, only documents of limited size are allowed, and files can only be compressed up to 100MB. Similarly, OCR can only be done on 10 pages, you can only insert images that are up to 5MB, you can only combine 30 files and 50 pages, and you’ll have to convert files one by one. Meanwhile, the Pro version has unlimited use and can do batch conversions.
A flexible software
Nevertheless, Sejda PDF Desktop is a lightweight but powerful tool to have. Even with limitations, the free version alone is quite versatile with its features and the program also offers discounted bundles for teams of people who’d like to buy licenses in a bulk. It’s even compatible with Citrix and Terminal Services. It’s only unfortunate that it doesn’t have more popular advanced tools but if you’re looking for a great basic alternative to other popular editors, this is a great recommendation.
